I don’t know about you, but when I think of Switzerland I immediately think of the Alps. And not just the Alps, but those pictures you see on Instagram that don’t look like there’s anyway that it could be real life. I wanted that. I needed that. Snicks, lemme tell you, I got that.

We piled in the car early, eating cold schnitzel along the way (no regrets, breakfast of champions) and began our ascent into the Alps.

Breakfast of champions!

In researching cool places to view the Alps, we came across Schilthorn- Piz Gloria. Not only the steepest cableway in the Alps, but Schilthorn also offers Spy World, an interactive exhibit commemorating the filming of the James Bond classic, “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” From 2,970 metres above sea level, Piz-Gloria offers spellbinding views. You truly feel “on top of the world.” It was exactly what I was looking for when I said I wanted an unbelievable Swiss Alps experience. Highlight of this trip, for sure.

We of course had to visit the interactive James Bond exhibit!

After helping 007 save the crown, we hopped back in the cable car and made our descent, ready to head to another town.

On the shore of Lake Thun rests the beautiful town of Spiez. So incredibly picturesque, I was taken by its tranquility and did I mention there is a castle there? Built in 933, Schloss Spiez (Spiez Castle) is a Swiss heritage site of cultural significance. If you ever get the chance to visit Spiez, I can’t recommend it enough. Serene and tranquil, with stunning mountain and lake views, Spiez is a dream.

[…] I did venture out, into the world, on two solo excursions. The first was a bucket list place of mine: Strasbourg, France. The second were places I had visited once before but hadn’t had the opportunity to properly explore: Lauterbrunnen and Spiez, Switzerland. […]
