Did you know that for the 1st 5 minutes of every hour, from sundown until 11pm the Eiffel Tower sparkles? When I heard this, I KNEW I had to see it in person. I had researched the best places to view the Eiffel Tower and knew precisely where I wanted to experience this live and up close.

First things first, food and drinks. I stopped by the local Monoprix (like a French Target) for a sandwich, fruit, and a bottle of rosé. Dinner and libations in hand, I made my way to the Seine.

The bridge located directly in front of the Eiffel Tower is the Pont d’lena. When you get to the bridge, before you cross it, walk along the wall to the right and you will come across some stairs. Head down the stairs until you are right along the water. This is my FAVORITE spot to view the tower. I try to arrive an hour or so before twinkle time (sometimes a little more) because it tends to fill up around sunset with groups of people, couples, and solo travelers too, all excited to watch the Tower shimmer. The atmosphere is electric and joyous.

As darkness crept in, more and more people arrived. Boy was I glad to have arrived when I did! Sunset at the tower is *chefs kiss* The sky turns a purpley, bluish, pink as the tower preps for illumination. Once nightfall strikes, it’s glow city! The tower at night is something special. Add in a shimmer… pure magic. Pictures don’t do it justice. You have to see it in person. To this day, it is STILL the most beautiful sight I have ever experienced in real life.
