ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!
Huge trip announcement time!
This spring, I will be leaving the comforts of home, the presence of friends and family, and life as I know it, to travel around Europe for four months.
As someone who regrets not taking a gap year or studying abroad, I always felt like a piece of me was missing, an emptiness that couldn’t be filled. While everyone was getting married and having kids, I was thinking about when my next trip was going to be and where my next passport stamp would be from.
I was feeling kind of stuck. I wasn’t terribly happy with where my life was heading and wanted to take a break. Insert super great (read: irresponsible) idea! I decided I was going to be incredibly reckless quit my job, blow through my savings, and travel around Europe until I ran out of money and had no choice but to come home. Well, I’m doing most of that, minus the job quitting and staying until I run out of cash. I am eternally grateful to be awarded the opportunity to take a leave of absence from my job and I do have a return date sooooo I’m somewhat responsible.
While I do have most of my trip meticulously planned out, I did leave ample opportunities for spontaneity and unplanned adventure. Planned spontaneity. How bout that for an oxymoron?!
This trip is for the Pam of the past, the Pam of the present, and the Pam of the future. I can’t wait to both reconnect with her and meet her for the first time.
I hope you will follow along here and on Instagram for stories of my travels, my journeys, and my trip updates.
I’ll leave you with this:
“Dear reader, get out your map, pick somewhere and just run.
Dear reader, burn all the files, desert all your past lives.
And if you don’t recognize yourself
That means you did it right.”
Dear Reader by Taylor Allison Swift.
